First writings done!

I'm thrilled today as I finished my first writings for Pathfinder. I still haven't completely read through all the rules but I did at least read the parts that were important to my assignment which were Archetypes. I'm quite proud of what I came up with so here is hoping the editors agree. I sent it off for some peer review before sending it in to the publisher. So we shall know in a day or two. I have two more to write so I will be jumping on that next.

Also, after reading through the beginner box stuff over the weekend, it set in motion the idea to write an adventure. Well I finished the maps for a full adventure path and campaign. I will actually be working with my brother R.A. Mc Reynolds on that. The maps were all sent off to him yesterday and we discussed a bit of the background story. So you might be seeing more about that in the months to come.

Exciting stuff. I now return you to your regularly scheduled program...

Writing Pathfinder

I shared this the other day on facebook: After much consideration, it appears as though I am going to have to read the Pathfinder Rulebook and most likely the Advanced Player's Guide. And I had gone so long without reading any official rulebooks. Now to carve out some time...

So I started reading the beginner box set since it was suggested by Dave Gross. I really like the way the set is organized. Next up the Core Rulebook, then the Advanced Players Guide.

so the whole reason I need to read these rules (after playing RPGs for 25 years) is because I've been commissioned by Brian Berg of TPK games for his Kickstarter Laying Waste. I was a bonus goal ;)

The kickstarter is pretty cool actually. He has re-written the rules for the critical attacks and I'm a big fan of the new system.

Several industry folks have been unlocked to write additional content for the book. I've been commissioned to write some Archetypes. I've got them outlined and plan to finish up the writing this week. If you are interested in the KS, here's the link:

However, after reading the beginner box set it's got me thinking about adventures. Hmm, should I write one?

The Last Unicorn

I took the girls to see The Last Unicorn on the big screen.  It was being featured at Cinerama which is an amazing theater. First of all when you walk in it smells like chocolate chip cookies because they make chocolate popcorn. We actually went with the mix, mmm sweet and salty. The screen is gigantic and curves on the sides but not like an imax, it is hard to explain. The picture was so clear and the colors bright. The music has always moved me, so it was fantastic to hear it in surround sound.  The girls got a little antsy waiting for the movie to start but hearing Peter Beagle discuss his cabin story and how he ended up writing it was amusing. "The creative process of miscommunication" as he put it. The theater was sold out and every seat was filled. We got to see some industry friends there as well. It was fantastic seeing so many fans supporting this classic. I am glad the girls got the chance to participate in something special like this, and so we went home with the book and two unicorns. Lol

RPG Monthly Meetings

So a group of us have been meeting monthly, this was our 2nd month. We have continued to grow our little group out here in Seattle. It is really fun getting to hang out with others in the industry. We make a big attempt to not talk about work but just geek out instead. This month we went to Cafe Mox in Seattle which is a game store, a restaurant, a bar, a place to rent games and play them. Awesome, huh? So I played a little Dominion with Scott Gamble from Zombie Sky Press, Chris Pramas from Green Ronin, and Jonathon Nelson from Adventure-a-week. Chris won but I came in 2nd and I kept getting just 2 copper in the beginning which was super annoying. Jason Bulmahn, Adam Daigle, and Eric Mona came from Paizo. Wolfgang from Kobold Press came, as well as my boss Jason Nelson from Legendary Games. We had a really great time. Next month, believe it or not, we are all going to try and go bowling!
